"Every beat of my heart on race day will be dedicated to three people who shaped everything I believe about why this work matters."

My name is Melody, and this is my first major marathon. I'm running 26.2 miles through Chicago for the American Heart Association — not because I have to, but because cardiology is something I hold near and dear to my heart.

Every day I work in cardiac rhythm management, taking part in the process of patients receiving life saving therapy. I see firsthand how advances in cardiac medicine driven by organizations like the AHA change and extend lives.

Your donation doesn't just fund research. It funds moments: a device that activates at the right second, a nurse who stays late, a veteran who wakes up tomorrow. Thank you for being part of this.

🫀

My Tío

Cardiac device patient

He lives a better life knowing he carries a device that can save him at any given moment. I run for every patient who relies on this technology to stay alive.

👩‍⚕️

My Mom

Cardiology Nurse Practitioner · 25+ years

A lifetime of service in cardiology, now caring for veterans through the VA. She is my biggest inspiration — and one of the reasons I show up every single day.

🎖️

My Husband

US Navy Veteran · Living with hypertension

He served his country and battles his condition with quiet strength every day. I run every one of these 26.2 miles with him in mind.

Donating to my page represents not just these three — but the countless lives that the AHA makes its mission to change.

Each mile costs ~$96 to sponsor. Can you claim one?

Miles 1–22 are sponsored, half of 21, half of 20 & 23 are claimed. Help me cross the finish line!
